* What is the difference between electrolysis and laser hair removal?

Hair removal of any kind requires significant heat to disable a follicle’s ability to produce another hair. Electrolysis produces that heat via an electric current that flows through a tiny wire that is inserted into each follicle. Laser, on the other hand, emits a wavelength of light that is absorbed by the melanin found in each hair strand, thereby destroying it.
* What type of hair is best suited for each method?

Electrolysis is color-blind, therefore, can be utilized on any hair, dark or light, coarse or fine, anywhere on the body. Laser’s effectiveness is directly related to a person’s hair and skin color. The ideal scenario for laser success is dark, coarse hair and fair skin. With the advanced technologies we have available today, darker skin can also be treated.
* Why does hair removal require multiple treatments?

Hair has 3 stages of growth. Anagen, the actively growing phase, Catagen, the resting stage, and Telogen, the dying stage. Successful hair removal can only happen during the Anagen phase of growth. That “window of opportunity” is different all over the body. Only a small percentage of hair is actively growing at any given time. Consecutive sessions must be strategically planned so that the most hair possible can be “caught” in the proper stage.
*Which method is more effective, electrolysis or laser hair removal?

Because the laser is dependent on hair and skin color, given the “perfect storm”, some can experience 90%-100% clearance. The lighter your hair, or the darker your skin is, the less percentage of success you can expect. Electrolysis, however, has more of a potential for 100% success. The downside is the time and number of sessions you must go through to get there….treating one hair at a time. For some who have gray, blonde, or red hair, electrolysis is the only option. For many who have dark and light hair, a combination of the two methods is unbeatable! NOTE: Hormones can throw a monkey wrench into both processes and must be taken into consideration before beginning your hair removal journey!
